"If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life."
I believe the actual quote by Confucius goes as, "Find a job you love and you'll never work a day in your life"
But I don't believe the 'finding' part. Because to me, that sounds more like a hobby. It changes, you get bored, you try this one day, and then that, you like it, then get fed up of it, and finally...you give up!
Or maybe some people just don't know themselves, in those cases I bet it works, like when it comes to those languid people. They're always leaning, most things are an effort for them, their eyes are half closed, five words in a sentence is too long for them, they take deep breaths, nod and yawn. But these amazing fellow men and woman, when at last something comes their way(they usually don't go after much, its too much of an effort) then they wake up! Oh God! then how I love those guys! Success seems almost certain for them thereafter.
What are they made of??
Not like the rest of us. The majority that struggles on with work, the like of which I call 'bread'. Everyday you make it, its eaten and gone and tomorrow? You're back at square one and you have to make that bread all over again. Its the same with accounts/office workers and most definitely secretaries. Get me? You don't feel like you getting anywhere once you're used to that excessive boredom of numbers. Why, ten years down the line and what you've got?
Nothing! Maybe that one little word: Experience.
Now take a fashion designer, or an artist in every sense of the word. You have a collection of art that one day you can look back on, feel and touch, feast your eyes and soul on your creation that may just one day become a classic piece of...well something. Like Charles James.
But oh Boy? Who am I kidding?
Well. let us all just carry on plodding along in this dry old fashion.
I look back on this post, and I don't even know myself what I am trying to get at.....anyway I'll post it....and good luck to me. I sure need it.

Not only about Google
I'm sure everybody out there today is either saying, 'Guess who's birthday is today?' or 'Today Google is 14 years old!' And the majority who hears this will answer, 'Only 14 years old?'
All right you kids of the world, who of you are older and cleverer than our young Master/Miss Google today??
Anyway, like I said this post is not all about the egoistic Know-it-All-Google, but the pressure of the 'Naming' ceremony of the poor children of the Internet and their likes.
Here you go, when the world was still peeping at their faces in their respective cradles.

Moving on >>>>>
![]() |
See the glow ahead, or is it the happiness so bright that's behind?? |
My sister brought this, 'moving on' to my attention with startling clarity,
but accepting that and believing in it are two totally different things.
And for you to actually do it? That’s a brand new subject for you.
She said (repeating a conversation she had with a stubborn acquaintance),
“first you go to primary school, and then to middle school, high school, university,
get married…it’s all moving on ‘unconditionally’, and so….” It’s one of those
sentences that don’t have an apt ending. It just says, with raised eyebrows, “Get
a real life and stop hanging on to fantasy pasts or ideals”
But can one really break away from those clinging fantasies?
Truly, truly?

“This is not you…”
When a person says that to you, are they insulting or complimenting
you?
The one who this phrase is directed to, prickles, but what
does it mean?
If whatever is crowding our minds, troubling our conscience,
pressing our wallets, in turn making us lash out at others…as scapegoats…It’s not
justified. No way.
But under normal circumstances we wouldn’t pick and jump at
any spontaneous annoyances, but some people are
like that; jumping at every little provocation, whining, squealing about their day’s
troubles, muttering and slamming doors until they get the attention of people
around them. What I’m trying to say is ‘that’ behaviour is normal for some
super sensitive people.
But get this, these super-sensitive-whiny complainers
telling you (relatively calmer people of fewer word and slams) when you’re in a
fury or amidst an especially heated rant, “this is not you.”
How do you react?

Its what I call 'Gripping On'
Why do authors do this with their series?
I like Morganville series a lot, but take a look at this:
"BLACK DAWN is a staggering #12 in the series, but it’s not the last! In fact, there will be at least 15 novels in the Morganville series, and the next, BITTER BLOOD, is already under construction (and almost done)."
See that?
Once authors make a bang with their books, they don't want to leave their bloody series alone!
I orignally thought this #12 book, Black Dawn was the last in this fabulous series, but NO, it will its now escalating to a whopping 15 books!
I get it, almost most of the mysteries are solved... the machine that keeps Morganville safe, why the vamps chose a town in the sun as apposed to their 'health reasons', the bishop diseas scenario..oh lots got solved, and now what Rachel is bringing in the #13th book?
GHOSTS
Whatever!
Remember Vampire Diaries?
Exactly! That series never ended!
There was the Vampire Diaries four books, and then the Return sereis camo out if I'm not mistaken, and probably the books' still going on now with the Tv series version are also out in books...
Why can't authors just leave their books 'fresh'?
Even if it is ten books, make a blast into the market, and make a dramatic exist, rather than this stale slow never ending death of a promising sereies.
Instead, now they will eventually just wither into oblivion with the rest of 'incapable of ending books!'

Time to come back
Its the second of December, its 2:58 in the morning, and I am up.
Well, to justify that, I was busy preparing my module to submit to my tutor tomorrow and guess what?
Somebody, peeked in my window.
Not literally, this window.
I have one comment.
I can't say that I'm exactly happy about it though..
I kinda liked the feeling that my blog was open out there, yet it seemed impossible for anybody to knock on it.
Well it happened apparently, it was a call unto me, to move it.
The past months wasn't happy, that's what family does...they make you worry, and if you worry, they worry, and you know everything ain't right.
But hopefully soon. Not just the windows, but doors are going to open for us.
Insha-Allah.

Today's window
I was just kind of solemnly gazing at my bare blog,
and of my not doing justice to the title I named it.
So I decided, I'm going to put (whenever possible) a 'window' open for me,
just to fantasize, and feel happy for and with myself.
And I'm going to post the most fairytale like one first.
This picture/painting is absolutely beautiful.
Its like the artist caught the essence of a poem no one could write.

To motivate myself.
“To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did”
When Thomas Edison invented the light bulb,
he tried over 2000 experiments before he got it to work.
He said, “I never failed once. I invented the light bulb.
It just happened to be a 2000-step process”.
A schoolteacher scolded a boy for not paying attention to his mathematics,
and for not being able to solve simple problems.
She told him that you would not become anybody in life.
The boy was - Albert Einstein

Isn't it amazing sometimes what makes you happy or sad?
A picture or smile, even a sound or scent?
Anything non logical but striking something sensitive in yourself?!

A longing
Dear Plattenburg,
The music of constant waves,
the pleasure of walking in your wake,
today like no other day I crave,
to set eyes upon you for my sake.
I miss you.

Family squabbles
What is worse than that? Not living up or down to your siblings?
Or being in no man’s land i.e. between? The odd one out.
I hate it.
And for once I did my utmost by not getting involved although, so many members of my family tried to.
The Book Publishing World
Book Publishers are such great deceivers. Even Liars
They write such inspirational bullshit, about everything in their bloody newsletters, websites or wherever else trying to show them as different to the rest of the publishing world.
But at the end of the day?
They’re all one and the same; a motivated manipulating business that revolves around just like the rest of the world and their stereotypical views.

I live in a suburb in Johannesburg, Gauteng and I hate it.
It’s claustrophobic
There is no ‘view’, and I can go on, and on.
But South Africa is beautiful country, just not my province i.e. Gauteng.
But go on a road trip; pass the vast open landscapes, its beautiful cattle, the mountains, and finally the ocean?
And it is a God given land for sure.
Even the Karoo has its charm.
But Gauteng? Gauteng is the home of Johannesburg CBD where the businesses run. Cities, lighted malls, posh cars, self loving snooty people...Other than that? Nah, just flat, dry land, with a few dams or lakes that people like us would drive for two hours on a Sunday just to see some water. Yeah, no kidding.
And I just dream of moving from this place, dream of living on an open estate......a farm, a ranch?
God, now that's a dream. A dream that can hardly come through for me.

Family.
We can't choose them can we?
And by 'family', I'm not meaning siblings, they're a topic all on their own.
We can smile when they talk about everything that revolves around themselves (Aunts), nod while they discuss world issues as though they're politicians themselves(Uncles),
and barely refrain from rolling your eyes, when they prattle on about their little dramas (cousins)
Oh, and don't even get me started on the Grandparents! Not to mention those reaching mental breakdowns.
After a while don't your facial muscles begin to protest?
But the other side of my brain is telling me not to generalize, something that I hate when others do, specifically parents....so yeah, okay not all cousins are that shallow or boastful. some are bearable. Huh?

My Life...now.
Most grownups like saying how they enjoyed their 'teenage life.'
What A Lie that sounds to me.
Teenage life is such an undetermined point in your life, especially when it comes to you liking or having an interest in something that nobody in your family shares with you or even remotely understands. Yeah that sucks.
I wish I could fast forward my life ten years and see where I'd be...I guess running out of petrol somewhere along the highway through the Karoo?

YA Fiction Series that I quit..

For an example; Maximum Ride By James Patterson.
I liked the first, and second book, but by the third book, I was starting to grow fed up of it.
I don't like that too much of a 'hero' or 'heroine' characters, you know? And Max was becoming a bit too much like that not to mention a bit highty tighty.
If anyone read this series, they'd probably see what I'm driving at.
Take a simple scene at the end of the fourth book 'The Final Warning'. The 'Global Warming' speech, that a fourteen year old is giving to the world..That's when I quit.
Another YA Fiction Series I quit on the way was:
The Gone Series By Micheal Grant.
I liked the character of Sam Temple that Micheal Grant portrayed.
But the plot, the Drake, Cain and their cronies 'activities' were a bit morbid don't you think? And a bit drawn out?
P.S. Anyway my thirteen year old sister is enjoying both the series very much. What can I say?

Can I take that back?
When things are done, they're done.
But is guilt ever done??
Time turners would be such a gift, wouldn't it?
Life goes on I'm not sure I'm travelling at the same pace.
